The Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers, a local nonprofit in Camden, NJ, offers a part-time apprenticeship program for teens at area outpatient medical offices including facilities run by Cooper Medical Center and Lourdes Health System.
The program, which transitions into a training program at Camden County College after successful completion, exposes Camden high school students to various health career options and offers real-world job experience.
"There is a tremendous need in the city for entry-level medical assistants," Rowan University/Rutgers–Camden Board of Governors CEO Kris Kollur told the Camden Courier Post. "Health care organizations are currently struggling to hire front-line clinical staff with the right mix of skills and aptitude."
